People on a budget for cymbals read!
« Thread Started on Sept 14, 2008, 7:39am »

Ok, im on a budget, im basically broke, i have no money left really because ive spent it all on the kit lol.

I needed some new cymbals and i came across Stagg. I heard that they were a bad make for cymbals and they broke easily etc... Thats true for the Stagg's you get WITH a stagg kit.

So i decided to get a Stagg cymbal and try them out. I bought the Stagg 16" Vintage Bronze Crash and it is a great cymbal. It was only £36 delivered and you can really get much better than that. Can you?

On eBay they are selling a lot of stagg cymbals for amazing prices such as £16 + . One that i looked into was a Stagg 14" SH China for something like £28 delivered. I watched a sound clip from YouTube and they are AMAZING sounding cymbals. And the price for them is even better. I wondered how they even made a profit out of this!

If you are on a budget, seriously check out Stagg cymbals. Some of the lines that might interest you: SH, DH and Myra. They are really great cymbals :)

Well SH are probably the cheapest cymbals that are decent. Their chinas sound AMAZING. Im not sure about any other cymbals on that line.

The DH Series are just generally really nice cymbals. They are a little more expensive but definatley worth it. The exo ride is just great.

The Myra series i don't know much about but ive heard people say that they sound great. And looking at sound checks on YouTube they are great! The hi-hats sound as good as any high range brands and models. I would recommend them if your a gigger.

Hope it helped :)

Stagg are an amazing company.
The only problem they have is this.

People think they are budget cymbals (in terms of quality) and that they are a step below say AA's, K's or 2002's etc.

In reality they are on a par. They just have a different timbre!
There is also no difference in 'quality' between the cheaper SH ranges and the more expensive Myras and Furias.

I know there are alot of 'stagg suk i plaid 1 and it broke in a secund dey r crap' people around but I personally know session musicians who've sold their AA's, A customs et al for SH's.

Stagg are also currently being used by a few bigger name players.

Such as,
Nils Berger (Uses all DH I believe)
and
Paul Robinson (He played for Nina Simone and has his stagg hi-hats right next to top end Zildjian)

I've got the 14" DH fat hats and the "20 DH crash ride, I've used them in the studio and they sound fantastic.
