What are the best pedals in your opinion?

In my opinion Axis and Iron cobra pedals are the best for Extreme metal. Very solid fast resposive pedals.

Axis. Hands down. Amazingly great pedals and perfect for all kinda of extreme metal! Iron Cobra's are very close to them though.

Iron Cobra's have their strong points too. They have all kinds of kinks and stuff to modify, and so many modifications to choose from. Most pedals you buy only have a few. Pearl elims have different cam drives etc...

Pearl Elims, Iron Cobras, and Axis are probably the best ones. I don't know of any other pedals that could top them!

Ive heard of Trick pedals before but i havent played them and they aren't really popular so im guessing they're got as great.

for proper extreme metal axis A longboards or trick V1's, but its not a matter of "oh yeah buy axis they make you go really fast" they don't, they're just more responsive by a fraction, if you're shit at double bass you're shit at it, pedals won't change that XD

a few of my friends have axis pedals and I can get faster than they can with my cobras. LONG LIVE COBRAS haha

axis are the highest quality, but you get more features and adjustability with pearl and tama.

You can be a fast double kick player with any pedal that is constructed well.

The logo on the pedal doesn't mean a thing. A direct drive pedal is direct drive and sticking 'Axis' on it doesn't increase it's speed. The same way sticking 'Iron Cobra' on a pedalboard doesn't either.

Essentially brand doesn't really matter if the pedal is made well.

I'd have to say that direct drive is far superior to any chain or strap system. I know that not everyone likes direct drive but it's a far better way of playing. As has been said above, it won't make you faster, just more accurate, you stop having to fight your pedal and prempt the note division you need to play and so can just get on with playing.

On the rare occaision I have to use something other than my direct drives it always seems to end up being an Iron Cobra and it's a nightmare.
Don't get me wrong, IC's are well made pedals. But after a couple of years on direct drives you can really feel the chain fighting you and I have to ride right up to the top of the footboard to play fast doubles.

I'm using Yamaha direct drives by the way.

i just recently got a set of gibraltar eliminator direct drive pedals. They work great, and are half the price which rules for broke musicians like myself!
